We are proud to announce the inaugural Storyhill Fest Midwest, held Saturday, Sept. 5 and Sunday, Sept. 6 2009, in Deerwood, Minnesota (near Brainerd). Like its predecessor festival in Montana, Storyhill Fest Midwest is an intimate and interactive musical event taking place at Presbyterian Clearwater Forest Camp. The festival is open for all ages, and outdoor activities will be available for varying interests, such as guided kayak trips on Clearwater Lake, a cribbage tournament and hiking.
Join Storyhill for two days of great live music and enjoyment for the whole family!
Clearwater Forest Camp includes cabins and tent space. Check out the following highlights and details:
Nine cabins and central bath house. Each spacious cabin has 14 beds and a screened porch. The cabins are lit with rechargeable electric lanterns and have no plumbing. All cabins are within very short walking distance to the bath house. The bath house is a large, modern and very pleasant facility featuring plenty of toilets and sinks, along with 16 showers and a generous hot water system. (See the Camp Map for the location of each cabin - and remember, its first come, first serve!)
Two large designated tent sites and five RV hookup locations. One is near the concert grounds and the other is located near the lake. These are first come, first serve! Volunteer staff will show people where to pick up the trail to find the tent sites.
On-site parking is provided for all attendees. Festival attendees will be allowed to unload vehicles and then asked to move them to another location. Volunteer staff will direct people to the appropriate parking locations.
Campers will need to be prepared for all types of weather conditions. Nights can be cold and the afternoon sun can burn. (See the Check List below to know what to bring).
Most of Clearwater Forest's 1,016 acres of forest and 3.5 miles of lakeshore are pristine and undeveloped. The camp is home to an astonishing variety of plant and wildlife species: Towering pine trees more than 200 years old and delicate yellow Lady-slippers can be found within 100 feet of the Dining Hall. Bald eagles, osprey, loons, owls, hawks, and a great many other birds are part of the camp's ecological community, as well as bear, deer, fox, porcupine, raccoon, ermine, and other creatures. Clearwater Lake's surface area is approximately 900 acres, and is filled with a healthy variety of fish.
